Why I disagree with my DevRel-self in 2020
The world of developer relations has evolved dramatically since 2020, challenging many of the assumptions and best practices we once held as gospel. In this candid and introspective session, I will revisit my own DevRel philosophy from five years ago and openly discuss why I now disagree with some of my past approaches. We'll explore the shifts in community engagement, the changing role of content, and the rise of new metrics that have fundamentally altered what it means to succeed in DevRel today. This talk isn't about shaming past mistakes but about embracing a new, more effective future, providing a fresh perspective that will help you critically evaluate your own strategies and adapt to the current landscape. Key learnings: - Critically re-evaluate foundational DevRel strategies in light of major industry shifts since 2020. - Understand how community engagement models and the role of content have fundamentally changed. - Embrace a new framework for success by identifying outdated practices and adopting modern, effective approaches.
